It sounds like the Nightmare on Elm Street remake may have found a new Freddy Krueger. It’s Rorschach.
Bloody-Digusting says Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach in Watchmen, is in talks to scare the crap out of a new batch of teenagers, taking on the iconic role made famous by the great Robert Englund. Word from them is that Haley is now in the final stages of negotiation to sign on for the part and the predict an announcement next week.
Adding further weight to their rumor is a bit of gossip run by LR a few weeks ago which said pretty much the same thing. Two reports from two different sources makes this a little more believable than the average, wild internet rumor.
While you’ll never really replace Robert Englund, if you’re going to try I can’t imagine anyone better than Haley. Even those pent-up fanboys who hated Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation have had to admit that Haley was pretty great playing the movie’s masked psychopath, and if you’ve seen Little Children you know he was even better as a child molester there. Jackie knows nutjobs and should have no trouble freaking everyone out as a child murderer stalking the dreams of children.
Update!BD is also reporting that Haunting in Connecticut's Kyle Gallner is in talks to take on the part of Quentin. Quentin was the role originally played by Johnny Depp. In the new movie he's a podcast host.
