You heard it here last week, and now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the most depressing rumor in the world: Michael Bay is remaking Rosemary's Baby.
Well, he's helping remake it--he’ll just be a producer, along with Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. So should we hope they’ll do something proper for it, or blame Form and Fuller as well for ruining everything in the world? The Reporter says they plan to be “meticulous” about the remake, but come on. Even if you’re making a shot by shot remake of a classic—hello, Gus Van Sant!—we all know that never really works anyway.
Confession: Michael Bay is an alum of my college, where we both had the same film professor and probably the same disdain for our classmates who took themselves way too seriously. So I’ve always begrudgingly respected the guy, for figuring out how to make movies that were wickedly entertaining while being incredibly mindless. And I’m pretty sure he donated enough money to the college that I got to see Lawrence of Arabia in 70 mm, which was amazing.
But this, Michael Bay, this cannot stand. He and Platinum Dunes already have their paws all over Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, but now they’re pushing the limit. The guy who brought you The Island is messing with one of the few horror movies to ever win an Oscar (for supporting actress Ruth Gordon), or ever get any kind of respect, period. They’re gonna take away that image of Mia Farrow with her haircut and replace her with, let’s face it, probably Jessica Alba.
Uggggghh. This is just too much to hate a movie before it even exists. I would honestly rather Michael Bay go back to directing, where he can put his unique values and lackluster sense of storytelling on his own ideas, rather than running out and ruining other people’s. Seriously, is there anyone who thinks this can possibly be a good idea?
Oh, and the picture above is from a photo shoot Jessica Alba did for Latina magazine, where she dressed up in scenes from classic horror movies. Sadly, this is just about exactly what we should expect

That mexican (Jesica Alba)...can come clean my house and take my dogs for a walk.......LEAVE THE SERIOUS ACTING to professionals. A mexican playing Mia....is this an SNL skit? Pls nooooooo!
I believe that they should fuck off with the remakes i mean literally Wes Craven put alot of hardwork in A Nightmare Elm Street which must of been about 25 years ago and now they believe they can do better! im 14 and thefore i have not seen Rosemary's baby but
have wanted to watch it for years now and i know Roman Polanski's skills behind the camera and with the ratings it's got over the years it must deliver a fair good amount of shock value so why remake it? i mean i know most of the story line to Rosemary's Baby by looking on the internet and the top 100 scariest moments and all that shit and i just cant see why they would remake a film that's such a classic cus i mean there only gunna put Angelina Jolie or Jessica Alba or Biel to take over Mia Farrows role.
There has been WAAAAAAYY TO MANY REMAKES over the years such as
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(which tbh was okay)
House on Haunted Hill(Which was AWFUL)
Psycho(which they should have just put in the bin!)
C
Carrie and many more whch should not have been made.
But i have a good felling about the Childs Play Remake.
But the Nightmare on elm streetis going to be disastrous!
And in my opinion Hellraiser and Friday the 13th was shit anyways lmao.
The orgional was fantastic, it captured horror which films now don't even come close to!
If they DID remake 'Rosemary's Baby' I would want an actress who can BE Mia Farrows character, someone who looks like her, not people like Jessica Alba who can't act at all.
I think Laura Regan would be a GREAT choice for this, she is known for looking so much like Mia Farrow.
In short, the only thing that can stop Platinum Dunes from their continued butt-farking of movie classics because they have the creativity of a BangBus story line is out-and-out revolution. We must overthrow the movie powers that be even if we have to use a blood-filled coup to do so.
Actually, it would be nice if someone could just stop all the trendy mall kids from seeing crap like this because they are the reason shiat like this succeeds. And if you don't believe me, walk into any video store on the weekend and watch all the cool sheeple call each other about that new Hitcher movie or that new Jessica Alba movie, The Eye.
If I went by these opinions alone, I'd think remakes like these are the bomb.
