Roth Gives Release Date For Trailer Trash

Roth Gives Release Date For Trailer Trash Eli Roth has shared some details about his experimental film, Trailer Trash. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s a movie that was inspired by the faux-trailer Roth created for the full Grindhouse (which, sadly, doesn’t look like it’s making the leap to DVD anytime soon). Roth reportedly had so much fun filming his slasher trailer Thanksgiving, he decided to make an entire film of fake trailers which are somehow tied together. Sounds like an interesting concept – something Warhol might have taken some interest in… okay, maybe Warhol with an edge.

Now Roth has given Bloody Disgusting some more information about the film, including the tentative release date. Right now MGM has scheduled Trailer Trash for an August 22nd release. That’s quite interesting. I would never have imagined a studio putting a project like this on a summer schedule. I guess MGM has more faith in Roth than the Weinsteins had in the original Grindhouse.

Even though they are released by separate studios, it appears Roth is heading back to Thanksgiving for part of his movie. The director said he gets to film some more scenes for that fake movie, as well as some other holiday slashers he never could actually make. Joining him for the endeavor are Roth’s friends (producer) Mike Fleiss, (writers) Jeff Rendell, Noah Belson, and Gabe Roth, all of whom have worked with Roth on previous projects, and yes, some were along for Thanksgiving dinner.

Don’t take the notion of slasher-holidy pictures as an indication that this is a horror flick. Roth hopes his picture will wind up on par with Monty Python and the Holy Grail and says it will be a comedy, a very hard-R comedy, and completely insane. Somehow, I have no doubt about that, and I have utmost confidence that Roth is the right man for this kind of picture. I just hope they decide to push the movie by releasing some of the trailers early through venues like YouTube. This could be incredibly fun to report on over the next ten months.
