Ryan Gosling Reuniting With Derek Cianfrance For The Place Beyond The Pines![]()
Every so often a director and an actor will get together and something will just click. We've seen it happen multiple times before, be it with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp; Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro/Leonardo DiCaprio; Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman; or Christopher Nolan and Michael Caine. After making Blue Valentine, director Derek Cianfrance may have found his go-to guy in Ryan Gosling.
Four weeks before their first feature hits theaters, Cianfrance has revealed to Vulture that he will be working with Gosling again for a film called The Place Beyond the Pines. Though the director didn't give any details about the project to the site, outside of saying that it is inspired by the work of Jack London, he told THR that the film will be about motorcycles, fathers and guns. Talking about it, Cianfrance said, "One thing I wanted to do with Blue Valentine was to make a really violent film without guns in it. The next one will have guns, so it will be easier." The project isn't currently set up with a studio and they are in the midst of financing. Having seen Blue Valentine last night I can attest the the film plays with some incredibly raw emotions and Cianfrance evokes an incredible performance from his male star. When the right director pairs up with the right actor they can create some astounding works of art and if Gosling and Cianfrance keep working at it, they may very well be capable of it. |
