Motorcade is a movie that had been tossed around with Tom Cruise's name attached for months, with everyone assuming that Cruise would take the role as a former Secret Service agent who happens to be there to help when the President is kidnapped in New York.

But no matter how much Cruise revamps his career, he still won't be as hot as Ryan Reynolds, and now Reynolds is the guy to replace him in this. Variety reports that Reynolds will star in the film for director Jon Cassar, best known for directing episodes of 24, which sounds like pretty much the best imaginable preparation for a movie like this.

The only thing that concerns me is that we're heading into a period of Ryan Reynolds overload, in which we see his face as Deadpool and The Green Lantern and this Secret Service dude, and after a while we're ready for him to just go somewhere else for a while. We're not there yet, and hey, we've had ever-present George Clooney for 15 years and going strong. I'm just suggesting that if Reynolds decides to spend a year snuggling with Scarlett Johansson at some point, he might actually be doing us a favor down the line.
