Ryan The Viking

Ryan The Viking It appears that Pathfinder may have not completely killed off the idea of Viking movies, even though it probably should have. Actually, Vikings may fare better in the hands of Future Films’ Last Battle Dreamer which looks to have a better story and is picking up bigger names according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ryan Phillippe is set to star in Last Battle Dreamer, which is described by writer-director Menno Meyjes as, “a love story written in fire and blood.” The Crash actor will play a seventh-century warrior involved in an invasion of Britain along with his brother, who will be played by Sean Bean.

Abbie Cornish, who stars alongside Phillippe in the upcoming Stop Loss is also attached to Last Battle Dreamer, although her role is unknown.

I don’t know about you but when I think “Viking,” Bean comes to mind a lot faster than Phillippe, which means it’s almost a shame Phillippe is the lead for the movie. Either he’s going to have to bulk up or he’s going to be an outcast Viking, which has already been done in the classic Erik the Viking. Still, even a remake of Erik would be better than this year’s Indians vs. Viking movie Pathfinder, so whatever Meyjes has in store for Phillippe and Bean can’t be the worst thing made.
