What makes the Screen Actors Guild awards different from all the dozens and dozens of others we have to sort through now, is that it’s actors awarding other actors. It’s an interesting way to find out what real thespians think of the year’s performances. There’s no award for Best Movie or Best Director. Just acting.
This years SAG awards were handed out tonight, and there weren’t really any surprises. Apparently, actors think exactly the same things about 2006 that everyone else does. Helen Mirren, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy, and Forest Whitaker cleaned up the movie awrds. Helen Mirren, Jeremy irons, and America Ferrera took the TV ones again. Not an exciting bunch of winners folks.
