Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen are joining the cast of Did You Hear About The Morgans?, according to Production Weekly. The Sony project pairs up Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant in another one of those fish out of water romantic comedies. This particular one involves the mob.

Parker and Grant play a New Yorker couple who witness a murder and must run off to small-town Wyoming as part of the witness protection. It sounds a little like Green Acres.

No word on what parts Steenburgen and Elliott will play, but since it’s set in Wyoming and it’s Sam Elliott we’re talking about here, gruff, folksy cowboy type is probably a safe bet. Sure he’s typecast, but goddammit he’s good at it.

While we’re talking Sam Elliott, can we talk about how it is that this guy never really blew up into the mega-star he deserves to be? I was watching Roadhouse the other day, as I often do when I feel I need another dose of Swayze, and Sam Elliott is awesome. He’s awesome in Roadhouse, one of the most ridiculous movies ever filmed. In Roadhouse! How totally kickass do you have to be to show up in the kind of cheese and survive with your badassness intact? Swayze sure as hell didn’t do it.
