Sam Jackson Becomes Homeless![]()
After Samuel L. Jackson takes care of those pesky snakes on his plane, he’ll take on Josh Hartnett.
Variety reports that Hartnett and Jackson will star together in the new Yari Film Group pic Resurrecting the Champ. The film casts Sam Jackson as a homeless man who thinks he’s a famous former boxer. He’s found by a young reporter, who develops a kind of close relationship with him, and apparently buys into his story. Unfortunately, it’s not true. The movie is being directed by Rod Lurie, a guy who has spent a lot of his career directing political action/dramas both on television and in film. His last major movie project was The Last Castle, and since then he’s been in television helming the failed, gimmicky Geena Davis series ‘Commander in Chief’. A movie like this could be a nice changeup for Sam, who’s spent a lot of time disappointing his fans by starring in bad, shallow movies opposite people like Eugene Levy or playing static, bland characters like the boorish Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels. Maybe this is finally a role of substance for the former great. If it isn’t, at least we’ll have Snakes on a Plane. That one’s a guaranteed hit. |
