Defeater of airborne serpents Samuel L. Jackson has been hired to play the lead in The Cleaner, not to be confused with the upcoming Cedric the Entertainer comedy Codename: The Cleaner.
Sam's movie is a thriller being written by Matthew Aldrich. Production Weekly says it's about an extremely hygienic man named Tom (Jackson) who channels his urge for cleanliness into his professional life by becoming a crime-scene cleaner. Crime-scene cleaners are the poor fellows who come in and clean up all the gore left over from a murder after the police finish their investigation. It's not a happy job. When Tom inadvertently becomes involved in a job that's actually a murder cover-up, he ends up in a web of deception that brings to the surface his own family's long-buried secrets. The Cleaner starts shooting this January in Shreveport.
