Sam Raimi Bringing The Shadow Over To Fox?![]()
Even after the pretty disastrous 1994 movie starring Alec Baldwin, The Shadow-- that old, long-standing property that started with pulp novels and radio shows-- has once again been in development at major studios for a while now. Last we heard, Sam Raimi had it over at Sony with plans to possibly make it his next project now that Spider-Man is utterly out of his hands.
But Latino Review's tipster Pinche Taco is hearing something quite different-- that Raimi has brought the project over to Fox, and that David Slade will direct it instead. Slade, of course, is busy in the edit room with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse coming out in June, but presumably he might want to earn back some of his geek cred after cashing his Summit paycheck, and this wouldn't be a bad way to do it. But then again, The Shadow isn't exactly a foolproof property, and a studio would probably be more likely to take it on with a big name like Raimi's behind it. Fox is reportedly paying a million dollars to take the property off Sony's hands, so if this all turns out to be true, we'll at least know they're serious about the acquisition. But do we really need another Shadow movie? And does Raimi need to get involved in another David Slade mess (he produced 30 Days of Night as well)? Until we know if this news is even true, I guess we won't have any answers one way or another. |
