Sam Raimi Dragged To Hell![]()
Sam Raimi has been making Spider-Man movies long enough. After years wrapped up in webbing, he’s finally trying something else. Variety reports that Sam has signed up to direct a supernatural thriller called Drag Me To Hell, which he co-wrote with his brother Ivan Raimi. Let’s make it a Raimi trifecta Sam. I’d like to suggest: Starring Ted Raimi. His time has come.
The movie is described as a “morality tale”, which is code for “hey we’re gonna give you substance with all the scary stuff”. It’s about someone who unwittingly is subjected to a supernatural curse. Apparently this is a pretty old script, one which the Raimi brothers wrote way back in 1992 right after finishing work on Army of Darkness. Post-Spidey, I guess Sam now has the cred to do whatever he wants, though word is that he’ll do this one with a smaller budget. Of course next to Spider-Man everything is a smaller budget. Don’t expect a lot of the fan favorite violence and gore present in some of Raimi’s earlier movies like the Evil Dead series though. Apparently this one is a little more cerebral. Raimi’s producing partner Rob Tapert says of Drag Me To Hell: “Sam calls it a 'spook-a-blast,' a wild ride with all the chills and spills that 'Evil Dead' delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film.” |
