Sam Worthington And Bradley Cooper Visiting The Killing Fields?![]()
You would think at this point that Danny Boyle has the ability to get pretty much anything made, no matter who stars in it. Dev Patel and Slumdog, anyone? But when he was talking up a potential upcoming project to MTV last spring, he said the script for The Texas Killing Fields was "really special," but "you’d have to have half a dozen super megastars for a studio to even consider making it."
Now, apparently, there are two megastars attached, but Boyle is strangely no longer involved. According to Pajiba's insider source The Hollywood Cog, Bradley Cooper and Sam Worthington will likely play the two lead cop characters, and Michael Mann's daughter Ami, of all people, will be directing. They have no idea how the project came to the second-generation Mann, whose only significant directorial experience is as second-unit director on Heat, nor why Boyle bailed on it. The real question is how they managed to attach two very-in-demand actors on a project for a first-timer. Really, the fact that Cooper and Worthington are the two names mentioned almost makes me believe this news can't be true. They're basically the two go-to "in demand these guys," and you could only sound more zeitgeisty if you tossed in Zach Galifianakis as part of the package. Even if they really are attached, it'll be ages before production can get going because of their commitments elsewhere. I'm dying for a real explanation of what's going on here, but I think it's just as likely for a flat denial instead. |
