Sam Worthington Moves On To Producing Graphic Novel Adaptations![]()
Sam Worthington is still fairly inexplicable as a movie star-- yeah, he's likable, but not that impressive, but he's at least smart enough to take advantage of his moment on top while he's got it. According to THR, Worthington is starting a producing career as his own Full Clip Productions teams up with Radical Studios to "create and develop intellectual property that would be published with an eye towards screen adaptations."
What that means, it seems, is creating graphic novels, starting with Damaged, about two brothers operating on opposite sides of the law. John and Michael Schwarz developed the concept and David Lapham will write the graphic novel, with another writer to be hired to adapt it into a screenplay. Worthington would be on board as an executive producer, though if you doubt he'll snag a starring role for himself in this, you haven't been paying attention. Despite being only the 100th most interesting thing in Avatar and being pretty terrible in Clash of the Titans, Worthington is still a welcome presence in Hollywood blockbusters for me, maybe just because he's a manly man instead of a whiny superhero or geek getting the girl. Building a career behind the scenes is a smart move not just to guarantee himself some roles, but to establish himself as something more than the brawny lunkhead. Hey, if it's working for Channing Tatum… |
