Will Smith helps Kevin James prepare for his date with Adam Sandler

With “King of Queens” slowly winding down its run on television, it was starting to seem like Kevin James’ career might begin and end right there on that set. But then last year he got a break in the movie Hitch, and apparently that’s leading to bigger and better for big (and by big I mean fat) KJ. He’s in negotiations right now along with Adam Sandler to star in a comedy called I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. With a title that good, I wonder if Nia Vardalos will try to get involved as well?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler and James would star as two straight firefighters who pose as a gay couple to get domestic partner benefits. Pat Robertson warned us about this!

But, this probably has nothing to do with Pat’s prophecies or the world’s renewed interest in gay guys beyond their great tastes in dressing and decorating. The project has been hanging around in development hell since the 90’s, and it’s just now getting a jolt of energy with the potential involvement of Doug and Happy.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry comes with a pretty nice pedigree. Wedding Crashers helmer David Dobkin is set to direct, and the screenplay was written by the Sideways team of Alexander Payne and James Taylor. The concept isn’t exactly inspired but with the right cast and with people like that involved, it could be funny.
