Sandler Gets Weepy Over Baseball![]()
Adam Sandler may soon get a chance to live out his baseball fantasies. Variety says Columbia Pictures and Sandler’s own Happy Madison are attempting to pick up the rights to a script by Mitch Albom for him to star in.
The untitled film is described as a comedy set in the world of baseball, with emotional elements. I guess that means we’ll get to see the pitcher cry when the opposing batter hits a grand slam. Or, maybe it’s another horrible baseball rom-com. Or, better yet maybe it’s the story of baseball players confusing estrogen for human growth hormones! That might explain the crying. We don't know. Personally I’ve had it with sports comedies, and I’ve especially had it with baseball comedies. The only thing more boring that actually watching a baseball game is watching one in a movie. Besides, I thought Sandler was becoming a serious dramatic actor. Anyone see Reign Over Me? He’s great in it. Adam, I loved your invisible penguin exploits and violent golf outings as much, or more than just about anyone; but the last time you did a sports comedy it was The Longest Yard, and I still have mental scars. |
