Sarah Jessica Parker Tries To Be Hotter Than Harrison Ford

Sarah Jessica Parker Tries To Be Hotter Than Harrison Ford There are two new movies coming out this weekend: TV-show-turned-movie Sex and the City and thriller The Strangers. One has been hailed as the most frightening cinematic event to hit theaters this summer. The other stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.

After last weekend’s revival of Indiana Jones, a character who would probably have been better left in the memory of his glory days, we get more four who should have remained in the past as well. Maybe it’s because the TV show put me to sleep faster than a Barry Manilow CD or simply that I’m a heterosexual male, but watching the ladies of Sex and the City [Read the CB Preview] get married or devolve into cougars holds no interest for me whatsoever.

But, that’s not the case for many movie goers. Not only is it already one of the top twenty all time pre-sellers with online ticket retailers like MovieTickets.com but critics agree that audiences are going to love it. Of course, critics themselves don’t love it, but they recognize that the movie has a built in audience that would turn out to see anything with Sarah Jessica Parker dolling around with her gal pals in Prada and Gucci.

The question of the hour is whether or not the girls of New York stand a chance to topple Indiana Jones for the number one box office spot. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will likely stay strong, pulling in totals in the $50 million range. That will be tough for Sex and the City to top, but never underestimate the power of middle aged women desperate for a little glamorous escapism.

The Strangers [Read the CB Preview], no matter how intriguing it looks, doesn’t stand a chance. Expect it to barely break the teen millions and end up in fifth place under veteran block busters Prince Caspian and Iron Man.
