Being the child of a famous actor or actress can be a double-edged sword. Sure, they can probably get you some bit rolls in movies, but the vast majority of these famous kids can never handle the disposable income and nagging shadow of their parents. If you don’t believe me, just ask Christian Brando. There are however, some privileged next of kins who do break the stereotype. Just look at Susan Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri. She swore, scolded, and screamed her way into audience’s hearts in the vastly underrated 2004 film Saved. After taking a few years off to attend Brown University, she is back, starring alongside her mother in the upcoming Middle Of Nowhere.

According to Variety, both mother and daughter have signed on to headline the romantic comedy. The main plot will follow a mother and daughter’s love/hate relationship. The family dynamic turns tumultuous when Sarandon’s character blows all of her daughter’s college savings fund on beauty pageants for her younger sister. I’d probably be a little miffed too. It’s unclear how much of the action will take place inside beauty pageant inner circles, but I’m really hoping a lot. Clichéd jokes about vapid and shallow gorgeous women never get old.

Turistas and Blue Crush helmer John Stockwell has signed on to direct. I have to be honest, this has to be a little bit off-putting to anyone who saw either of those movies. Turistas was an hour and a half train wreck of tired clichés and poor Hostile imitations. Who knows though? This could actually capitalize on what seems to be a promising idea. Look for this to come out sometime next year, and for me to reserve any positive comments until I actually see some trailers.
