Save The World! The reteaming of the two Hollywood giants is back on with the project which may see Tom Cruise score another blockbuster and give Spielberg a chance to have a little bit of fun in the genre he knows best after the attempted depth of A.I. and Minority Report.
Tom has pushed back Mission: Impossible 3 again. Spielberg has shelved his true life Olympic drama. Now both want to get War Of The Worlds rolling in time for... get this... Summer 2005! While that may be an ambitious target, if there's any "can-do" men in Hollywood it's these two. Coupled once more with his Jurrasic Park writer David Koepp this might finally see a well deserved big-bang blockbuster for Spielberg who's been sorely lacking the big event movie he deserves after taking a spell out to experiment with other things. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one. The 1950's version is a classic in a cheesy overkill kind of way but it's time Orson Welles' classic got the epic treatment it deserves. The only controversial point remains... has Koepp kept true to the story's Victorian origins or will it be "updated" to the modern world. Stay tuned... ![]() What? . SUBMIT A SCOOP |
