Saw V Cast Rumors Flow![]()
As the saying goes, if it’s Halloween, it must be Saw and if the fifth movie in the series is going to make that deadline, they’ve got to get started soon. Right now the movie is slated for a mid-March production start, which means information about the movie should start leaking any time now – like these new casting rumors coming from Bloody Disgusting. While this information is only in the rumor stage, it should be noted that BD usually is right on top of these things.
Right now it looks like the lead piece of casting news for the movie is that the antagonist will be yet again played by Tobin Bell. Yes, Jigsaw is returning again, despite the fact that we saw him not only dead, but undergoing an autopsy in the last picture. The flashbacks and pre-recorded tapes worked well to keep the spirit of Jigsaw alive in Saw IV, but I can’t imagine they could keep that interesting (or believable) for another full movie. Along with Bell, former Saw alumn Scott Patterson and Costas Mandylor will be returning as well. Patterson played Agent Strahm in the last Saw picture while Mandylor has reprised his role as forensics agent Hoffman in two of the previous pictures. If the previous formula of the pictures is any indication, one of the two (or both) could become the new target of Jigsaw’s little morality game. Or they could just continue their supporting roles. We really don’t know right now. Saw V is being directed by David Hackl, who served as a production designer on two of the franchise’s previous pictures. The script comes from Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who helped with the story for the last Saw picture. |
