It may seem a little early to be worrying about a third Batman movie while the second one is still filming, but if Batman Begins has taught us anything about Christopher Nolan it’s that he plans ahead. Batman Begins set the stage for The Dark Knight, with references to the appearance of the Joker in the next film. It’s likely that Nolan will do the same thing with The Dark Knight in setting up a third Batman sequel, and we have a surprising bit of information on who may show up in it.
One of our most reliable, long time scoopers just sent us the following tidbit: “Word is that Heath Ledger could be coming back in the next sequel which will have Two Face as the main villain.” In Batman Begins, the movie’s main bad guy was dead by the time the film was over. Ledger plays the Joker in The Dark Knight and if this is true then it means that he may end up surviving to torment Batman again. Assuming Heath is any good as Mr. J, I like the idea of Joker sticking around in the background of future film, making life miserable for Bats. He is after all, his chief nemesis. It makes sense for him to keep haranguing Bats.
Even more exciting than the idea that we may get the Joker in more than one movie is the identity of another villain who may be in Batman 3. According to our source, “it could also include a certain female feline as well.” Bear in mind that the script for Batman 3 hasn’t been written yet, so it’s all just talk at this stage. But if this really is something Nolan is kicking around for a future Batman project, then don’t be surprised to see a few hints at the future arrival of Catwoman in The Dark Knight.

I've only seen Megan Fox in Transformers, but after reading her filmography, her resume isn't really that impressive. I'm not saying she's a bad actress, but I don't think she can pull it off. I think she'd go cheesy-sexy, just like Halle Berry [also not a bad actress, but bad for the part].
I'm not Angelina Jolie's biggest fan, but I think she would be MUCH better for the part. Just like all the other main characters, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhal, Aaron Eckhart, and everyone else, she has a very impressive resume having done many amazing and more obscure award winning films. She looks the part, just like Fox, but she's older than Fox.. about the same age as Christian Bale [how it's supposed to be].
Everyone that wants Megan Fox seems to just want her b/c she's hot as fuck and really does look the part, but that's not a good enough reason. Every movie based on that, has sucked thus far.. so why fuck up a good thing with casting someone who's hot instead of talented?
I was wondering....if the Joker (ledger) is already dead....now who can play it better than him because i dont have someone in mind who can be the Joker as well as Heath did it.
Megan Fox was voted sexiest woman in FHM - she should bag the role as Catwoman, no debate! It's really unfortunate that Heath passed as he won't play the Joker in the sequel. I think if the Joker is in the next film, the actor will be no match for Ledger
Megan Fox is a good choice for Catwoman...really good, actually. And refreshing. I think it would be interesting to put Angelina Jolie in the role and opposite Christian Bale, however. I guess I'll just have to be patient.
Instead of guessing - why dont all of you go to warner bros website and look for the facts. The joker will not be back. Two face will be back. Everyone needs to stop talking about bringing in the penguin, riddler, mad hatter, bane, posion ivy and Mr Freeze. It is a known fact that they will not be in the 3rd movie.
Dudeee 2 Face could be in the 3rd on considering that no villian stays dead in Batman. And i highly coubt the joker will be in it now considering that Heath is now dead. I would also like to say that Catwomen would be great but i would like to see Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn in the 3rd one if they are going to do it. I would love to see a female Villian in the 3rd movie xx
I wouldnt mind seeing Catwoman. In fact, during the movie, while Bruce is talking to Lucious Fox about a new suit, He ask's "Will it stop dogs?" Lucious responds with "It will stop a cat". This was the only clue I picked up through out the movie for any possible sequel reference. Also Nolan was heard mentioning Angelina Jolie as his preference for Catwoman this past week.
okay so i dont see how two face would end up being in the 3rd batman movie if hes killed off in dark knight. it wouldnt make sense. obviously the joker should come back in the 3rd because he isnt killed and is batmans main villain. sadly heath Ledger wont be the joker in the next movie, because he was just awsome in Dark Knight. its such a shame. =( catwomen or poison ivy would be nice to see in the next movie maybe even the penguin. also the riddler would be pretty interesting too. just a thought. we dont need a robin because it would off set batmans character as of now and ruin the movie. but we definately need a female villain instead of the girl that is batmans love and always in trouble needing saving we need a female that will torment the bat in a love relationship and a foe
What I would do to see Catwoman in the next film! Michelle Pfieffer's performance in the 1992 film was amazingggg, the 2004 Halle Berry one had NOTHING on it. As for the next catwoman character, I was thinking Kiera Knightley...maybe Jessica Biel? Maggie Gylenhaal could've easily played Selina Kyle if she wasn't put into the role of Rachel Dawes. Anyway, as long as Selina Kyle is thin, sexy, and beautiful, i'm fine with whoever it is. :]
You people are all nuts and don't know what you're talking about. First of all, Selina Kyle must be in the next installment of the Batman films. The character is just so central to the whole Batman story. Catwoman is not only one of Batman's greatest rogues, but also one of his key love interests and his relative equal. She makes Batman struggle with himself even more than he already does, which is great! I am confident in Christopher Nolan's ability to finally do justice to such a fantastic character. No other comic book character has been more tarnished by every incarnation onscreen (both small and big) than Catwoman. Although I did enjoy Tim Burton's Catwoman, even though it had nothing to do with her comic counterpart. And I saw the film...I believe I detected a tiny hint at the Feline Fatale's forthcoming appearance. I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!! Just so long as they finally stay true to her and use the current version of the catsuit. I think an relative unknown would be best for the role...and just an FYI, the Catwoman movie with Halle Berry had absolutely nothing to do with the comic book version...they just stole the name.
Oh, and to whoever posted that Catwoman should be played by Lucy Lawless...you really are crazy! Not only is she way to old, but she's also way too BIG!! Catwoman's stats are as follows: 5'7" tall, 135lbs., Black hair, green eyes...and built like a gymnast...not a warrior princess from the amazon! LMAO Jennifer Tilly would be an okay choice about 15 years ago. Catwoman should be played by someone with similar stats, great acting chops, and who is within the same age range as Christian Bale, if not a year or two younger. I think you all need to go back and read your comics again...or read your first one or whatever. I was however refreshed by the thought of Jessica Biel...I think she just might be able to pull it off...maybe. Oh yeah, Charlize is also too big for the role. And as another person posted before me, you can bitch all you want about reusing the same Batman villains, but you simply cannot avoid Batman's chief nemeses. You just can't. And since this Batman storyline has nothing to do with the previous films, they aren't really being reused, are they?
to me i dunno if anone can be a better catwoman than michelle phieferbut if i had to choose and i feel shes nessecary in this sequel..
catwoman- helena bonham carter
I really hope Nolan ends this after the third film (the caped cruasder is a cool name for it!) as for Joker to be honest i hope he dies because i don't want to see Ledger replaced!
I for one think that they might want to bring on Lady Shiva. She is a real kick-butt part. Bats has had many foes, but she is really his equal in physical conditioning and training and it hasn't really been solved to see who would really whoop who, at least as far as I know.
The Mad Hatter! He has the potential of being a very dark and effective villain! Chris Nolan should use him! Although, he shouldn't be a old paedophile, maybe a teenage schizo who wants to put gotham in total anarchy.
Well having the Joker in a 3rd installment would not work for one because Heath Ledger cant return as him (bless his soul) and plus it would suck ass. The Joker is good for one movie but if batman didnt kill him then it would suck because the joker is too powerful to just stay in jail rotting, hes gonna have to die. And catwoman sucks. There cant be any girls that fight crime, if anything include a badass Robin before catwoman, she would just be annoying.
Keep in mind that Christopher Nolan is trying to make this as realistic of a Batman as possible without letting down the hardcore comic book fans so some of the villians are going to be too unrealistic to do. Killer Croc could easily be done. All Croc is, is a guy with a genetic mutation that makes his skin seem like scales. He filed his teeth down when he was in the circus to play off his persona. It was the animated series that gave Croc a snout and a tail. Mr. Freeze would be stretching it but I think it could still be done and done well. I do think though that Man Bat and Clayface would be taking it too far. I do hope that Chris Nolan focuses on alot of the more minor villians like Jervis Tetch aka the Madhatter (Who was a nano tech scientist obsessed with Lewis Caroles writings and kidnapped and raped anyone named Alice), Garfield Lynns aka Firefly who I heard might actually make an appearance in The Dark Knight, Ventriloquist and Scarface, Lonnie Machin aka Anarky, Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot, and Talia al Ghul. Now with that said, I know alot of people want Chris Nolan to avoid using charecters from past films but you just can't avoid Batmans greatest foes. The Penguin, Riddler, and Poison Ivy are too huge to just glance over so they just have to make sure they do it in a realistic way. For example, take The Penguin, get rid of his fuckin nose and the umbrellas and make him what he was, a mob boss fronting a Gotham City night club and you have yourself a great charecter. Get rid of the neon green spandex and the question mark cain and you find yourself with a Riddler obsessed with his own intelligence and puzzles. Hell, make him a computer hacker. And all Poison Ivy is, is a feminist eco-terrorist. We have those people in real life with the Earth Liberation Front.
Now as far as casting goes theres no question that Bob Hoskins is the perfect Penguin. I would also choose James Callis from Battlestar Galactica as the Riddler and Nathan Jones to play Bane. If they must use Man Bat I would have Ed Norton play Dr. Kirk Langstrom and I would have Brittany Murphy play Harley Quinn. As far as Joker goes theres no way around it, since Ledgers death they will have to recast. They already let it slip in January that the Joker was suppose to return in the third film meaning that there is a good chance they didn't go back and figure out a way to make it seem like the Joker dies at the end of The Dark Knight. My 2 choices for Heaths replacements are Johnny Depp and James Franco. Depp has the skill needed to carry a big charecter like that, the 2 biggest problems is that he is almost 20 years older then Heath and he is built alot smaller then him as well. Franco on the other hand is built exactly like Ledger and is only a year older then him. I would just be curious though if he has the ability to carry a role as huge as The Joker.
And lastly, I hate Robin just like everyone else but I do not see a way around him. I'm just really curious how they are going to make a realistic charecter out of him when Batman has to wear an entire cowel to protect his head and hide his indentity when all Robin is wearing is a tiny mask. Unless Dick Grayson is a shut in who doesn't get out much I don't see how they are going to pull his charecter off.
