It seems as though Martin Scorsese is a man being pulled in multiple directions by multiple projects. First you have The Irishman, a gangster film starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, that De Niro recently said is still happening. Then there was the announcement that Silence, an adaptation of the novel by Shusaku Endo, would actually be next, paired with the announcement that Scorsese has once again signed on to adapt Jordan Belfort's The Wolf of Wall Street. Now yet another one of Scorsese's older projects is fighting for his attention.

Deadline reports that Scott Rudin - who worked with Scorsese previously on 1999's Bringing Out The Dead - has signed on as the producer for the biopic about late singer Frank Sinatra. The project is nearly two years old now, dating back to when the studio was able to get the life and music rights from the estate and the Warner Music Group. The original script for the project was written by Phil Alden Robinson, though, according to the site, they apparently now looking for someone new.

If they are indeed looking to rewrite the script it may still be a while before it gets made, but it does once again put the project at the front of Scorsese's mind, meaning that it could actually get made at some point instead of sitting on a shelf collecting dust. But let's bring back an old debate, shall we? Who do you want to see play Frank Sinatra?
