Angelina Jolie is kind of the queen of starring in a movie you might expect to be about a man-- after all, they completely changed the gender of her character in Salt when she signed on board. So it makes sense that for her next project, she might help break some more glass ceilings. According to THR, screenwriter Kerry Williamson has been hired to adapt Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series as a star vehicle for Jolie.

The character, who stars in 17 of Cornwell's mystery novels, is a forensic examiner based in Virginia who is frequently charged with solving murder mysteries. Apparently Williamson will base the screenplay not on a specific book, but draw elements from all of Cornwell's stories. No word on when Jolie will find the time to star in the movie, exactly, but another ass-kicking Angelina Jolie heroine is good for all of us, really.
