See The First Step In Vin Diesel's Guardians Of The Galaxy Transformation
It's always a treat when an actor will go out of their way to give fans an inside look at their work. Vin Diesel is one of those actors, as he's often interacting with his fans on Facebook, sharing photos, thoughts and occasionally, inside information. The latest bit of bonus content comes in the form of Diesel up on his stilts for the role of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. He adds a caption that tells us to "Wait until you see what James Gunn has done with Guardians of the Galaxy," and adds that the cast is great in it.
Given Groot's height, stilts are no surprise. In fact, the tree-like humanoid's stature was emphasized in the recently released trailer and featurette...
At six feet, Vin Diesel's not exactly short, but Groot's really tall, so it makes sense that he'd need something to extend his stature. Let's take a closer look at those stilts...
He's strapped in from above his knees all the way down to just above his toes, and the gear comes with elbow and wrist guards. Those probably come in handy if ever he tips over. (I'm now imagining all of the weird injuries I would sustain if I tried to walk around on those things.)
Diesel's been keeping fans in the loop on his involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy since last Summer when he casually dropped word in a Facebook PostScript that he was set up for a mysterious meeting with Marvel. He eventually confirmed that he was voicing Groot for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. As much as I like Vin Diesel, my level of excitement over this news was minimal, as I was admittedly unfamiliar with the comic. But casting for the project was promising, as was the Marvel stamp on it, and my interest was further piqued when Eric broke down the first still for us. The trailer sealed the deal. If you can work "Hooked on a Feeling" into the trailer for a sci-fi superhero story and make it work, you've sold me a movie ticket. Hopefully Vin Diesel will share more photos and details from the film ahead of its August 1 arrival. In the meantime, here's that trailer...
