See Johnny Depp On The Set As John Dillinger

By Katey Rich: 2008-07-01 15:56:46
See Johnny Depp On The Set As John Dillinger It’s just occurred to me that this summer movie season is sorely lacking Johnny Depp. We were spoiled for a while there with the consecutive Pirates movies and the weird-yet-wonderful Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but this summer we have to settle for James McAvoy in the “unconventional dreamboat” role. Not too raw a deal, I guess.

But next summer we’ll be treated with Depp once again in Public Enemies, Michael Mann’s drama about 1930s Chicago gangsters John Dillinger, Babyface Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. And you don’t have to wait until next summer to get a glimpse of Depp in full-on 30’s gangster gear-- Collider.com has images of Depp wearing suspenders and a short tie on the set of Public Enemies in California. Better yet, the story behind the photos lives up to Depp’s nice-guy reputation. He was reportedly handing out small wooden guns as gifts to the cast and crew, and also bought beers for the whole bunch—you can see him holding one in one photo.

So check out some of the photos below, or head to Collider for full-size versions. You know your day won’t be complete until you take a moment to gaze at Johnny’s bicep tattoos.
