Only yesterday ago we brought you the news that Steve Carell and Jim Carrey have been cast in an animated adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss book "Horton Hears a Who", and now the first pics from the film have already leaked out into the media.
The image to your right comes from USA Today, and as anyone familiar with Seuss can see… it's dead on. Seriously, Dr. Seuss never belonged in live action to begin with. Seuss's crazy, wonderful drawings just can't possibly exist in the real world and we shouldn't try to shoehorn them there. Animation's the thing and this one picture is already better than anything we saw either in Grinch or Cat in the Hat.
Horton Hears a Who won't arrive in theaters till March 14, 2008, so this is a very preliminary still. Still, it gives you a good idea of what Blue Sky Studio's is going for in creating the look of this film for 20th Century Fox. The great thing about it is that it looks nothing like Blue Sky's other work. They could have gone Ice Age with it, but there seems to be at least some attempt to remain faithful to the style of the good Doctor. I love it. Let's see more.
