The last time Guillermo del Toro mentored an up-and-coming horror director, the result was Juan Antonio Bayona's The Orphanage, a stylish and supremely creepy Spanish-language movie. Now del Toro is at it again, planning to help Andy and Barbara Muschietti direct and produce a feature-length adaptation of their short film, Mama.

As HorrorMovies.ca explains it, the plot for the feature is being kept secret, but the entire short is available via YouTube to give you an idea of what's coming. The story in the short is slight-- it's not even three minutes long!-- but acts as kind of a window into what we can expect from a feature film. It's hard to tell given the not-excellent quality of the YouTube clip, but I think the bulk of the short is filmed in one take. It's definitely worth spending three minutes and checking it out below.
