See Vin Diesel Look More Badass Than Usual Dressed Up As The Last Witch Hunter

Since breaking out as a lead actor, Vin Diesel has largely rolled with the same look in all of his roles - the Mr. Clean-esque shaved head with no facial hair. That said, it seems that Diesel is doing something radical for his next big roll: he's sporting a beard. Production has officially begun on the new epic fantasy movie The Last Witch Hunter, and to celebrate the event the star has posted the first official still of himself in costume.

Post by Vin Diesel.

As you can probably tell, the image comes to us thanks to Diesel's Facebook page, which will likely be a big source for behind the scenes looks at The Last Witch Hunter over the next few months. The actor absolutely loves reaching out to his 84 million followers on the social media site, and part of that is giving his fans video and photos from the sets of his movies. He did it regularly for Riddick and 7, and we full expect the pattern to repeat itself here.

So what can we take away from this image? Given his clothes, it would seem that this new Vin Diesel character is no member of PETA, and that thought may extend to that wispy beard (you think that's real or fake?). I'm not exactly sure what a "Kaulder" is, but if it's his name, then that must mean that this shot is taken from a scene that takes place some time during the 13th century. If that's the case, this dude sure has spent a lot of time hunting witches!

Directed by Breck Eisner and based on a script by Cory Goodman, the new movie stars Vin Diesel as an immortal witch hunter (presumably the only one) who has spent his entire existence doing battle with his enemies. In modern day New York City, he discovers a plan by a coven to unleash a plague on the entire world, and must work to try and stop them. In order to do this, he must team up with a female witch, who is being played by Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie. If this new photo is of "Kaulder" in the 13th century, I'm curious how his look will evolve over time. Will he be adapting to modern dress, or will he be forever stuck in the past, style-wise?

Filling out the supporting cast of The Last Witch Hunter and not pictured here will be Elijah Wood and Michael Caine, though it's currently unknown what role they will be playing in the story. Presumably it won't be too long until we get to see photos of them on set, because I can't imagine Vin Diesel giving up an opportunity to take pictures with them. While the movie appears to be in production now, a release date has not yet been announced, but we will probably see the finished cut in theaters some time next year.
