Seinfeld's Fake Movies Get Brilliant Fake Posters

Seinfeld 1

I recently interviewed Julia Louis-Dreyfus on behalf of the Disney film Planes. In it – and if you have kids, you’ve likely seen it – the actress voices a French jet named Rochelle who participates in a globe-trotting race. Naturally, I asked her if the Planes writers ever suggested tongue-in-cheek that Rochelle should fly “from Milan to Minsk” as part of her journey. You know, because of the sultry movie Rochelle, Rochelle from the hit sitcom. She laughed, but then shot me down, as if to say, “I get it. Yet another Seinfeld reference.”

I wonder how she’s going to feel about these?

NextMovie crafted a series of movie-theater-worthy posters for several famous (and fake) movies referenced in Seinfeld. Ths top one tackles the popular Rochelle, Rochelle, referencing the racy movie that drew everyone (but Elaine) to the theater. Cast Anne Hathaway, hand the project to Lars von Trier, and we’re off to the races!

The casting choices on these fictional films are pretty terrific. It’s only a matter of time before some studio puts Tina Fey and Jason Bateman in a generic rom-com, possibly with Abigail Breslin playing their eye-rolling offspring. Does it have to be called Sack Lunch? Honestly, does that title make it any less worse?

My favorite of the bunch has to be Chunnel, the fake movie that ties several threads together in this clip. (Remember, don’t ever shush a movie talker.)

Several posters are below and on the next page. You can see the rest here. There are so many off-the-cuff mentions and references to fake movies in the Seinfeld series that Photoshop wizards honestly could stay busy for years crafting bogus one-sheets. What would you like to see next?
