Selena Gomez Signs On For Parental Guidance Suggested
With Wizards of Waverly Place having finished its run, Selena Gomez is now set to take on a whole lot more movies roles. She's already kept busy this year with the upcoming Harmony Korine film Spring Breakers having finished production, and Hotel Transylvania, which Gomez voices a character in, is due out in September. And now she's found yet another part.
According to THR, the singer/actress has landed a role in Parental Guidance Suggested. The film is based on the Ric Browde novel "While I'm Dead...Feed The Dog," which was published in 2000. The story is about a teenage boy named Ric Thibault and his crush, Nina Pennington, going on a "rock 'n' roll-themed odyssey." Nat Wolff will be playing the male lead while Gomez will be playing Nina (as you probably already guessed). In addition to those actors, Austin Stowell is on-board to play Gomez's overbearing boyfriend and Dylan McDermott and Cary Elwes will both have characters.
Tim Garrick wrote the adaptation and will direct the movie. Though no start date has been announced yet, the trade reports that the movie will be shooting in Los Angeles. Mad Chance, which previously made Get Smart and Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, is on board to produce the movie.
Gomez recently wrapped production on the Nicolas Lopez horror film Aftershock, which is set around a devastating earthquake and is currently filming Getaway, an action movie with Ethan Hawke.
