Sequel Talk Starting For Journey Movie![]()
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a brazenly commercial, completely silly and at times incoherent movie that seems mostly intended to cram as much entertainment as possible into its short running time. And yet, it's a movie that totally deserves a sequel, since it's also as much fun as I've had in a movie all summer.
And maybe there really will be a sequel! Moviehole.net picked up on an interview between The Rocky Mountain News and the movie's director Eric Brevig, who teased about a reference to the lost city of Atlantis that pops up at the end of Journey. "That might be something’’, he hints, as if the reference weren't put there specifically to spark a sequel. ‘’If people embrace the movie and want to see these characters on another adventure, we might come up with something.’’ So if you find yourself jealous of all those people who got to see silly, 3D exploitation movies in the 50's, you're probably in for a treat. Filmmakers and movie theater owners are going nuts for 3D, and if something like Journey succeeds, it'll likely usher in a whole new wave of movies that poke you, jump at you, and drag you into their world. Well, if any of them are half as fun as Journey, I'm in. |
