Seth Gordon surprised a lot of people last summer. While his first film, the documentary King of Kong, was sensational, his first venture into narrative features, Four Christmases, wasn't exactly a slam dunk. Fortunately, he was given a great script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein and an all star cast and came up with Horrible Bosses, one of the best comedies of last summer and also one of the most successful at the box office. His name has been mentioned in connection with multiple projects since, including the Jason Bateman-Melissa McCarthy comedy Identity Thief, and now he's landed yet another.
According to Variety, Gordon has added a project titled The Has-Beens to his already long list of in-development projects. Also on that list are projects like the WarGames remake, the narrative version of King of Kong, and the Allan Loeb-scripted drama The Only Living Boy in New York. The plot of the new film is being kept under wraps, but it's based on a script by Max Werner who is a writer for The Colbert Report and scripted the upcoming Halloween film Fun Size, which recently finished production and stars Victoria Justice, Jane Levy, Thomas Mann, Johnny Knoxville, Chelsea Handler, Josh Pence and Riki Lindhome. The project is being produced by New Line, with whom Gordon worked on both of his previous feature efforts. The real question here is when this project will happen. Gordon has so much on his plate already so this could be shelved for years, but for all we know it will become the director's passion project and he'll want to make it immediately. We'll just have to wait and see. Back to top
