Seth Rogen And Zac Efron To Star In R-Rated Comedy![]()
If you were to pick two actors from the exact opposite ends of the Hollywood spectrum, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron would be them. One appeals to the low brow stoner comedy crowd and people looking for some spectacular laughs, the other appeals to ladies and young people hoping for some singing and dancing in a high school.
But somehow the pair wound up together, according to Deadline, in a pitch that was recently snatched up by Universal for a hefty sum after a heated battle with New Line. The pitch came from Judd Apatow wards Andrew Cohen and Brenden O’Brien, who worked with Apatow on The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and then again on Funny People. They also worked with Seth Rogen on both films where presumably the relationship was born. Rogen is set to produce along with partner Evan Goldberg and has landed himself a lovely $8 million fee for acting and a low seven figure fee for producing. Not a bad price tag to make a little comedy film, if you ask me. The writers will also be taking home seven figures each once the script is completed and turned in to Universal. The unnamed pitch has Seth Rogen playing an everyman trying his damnedest to live a normal life when a rowdy frat house crops up next door and all hell breaks loose. This is where Efron comes in to play as one of the frat members turning Rogen’s daily life upside down. We’re used to seeing Efron in roles that are much more tame, so this will be a welcome change for the young actor who undoubtedly is looking to break free of a certain typecast he has laid upon himself. There are no proposed dates for production or potential directors yet, but with high profile actors like that attached to an R-rated comedy in this day and age I can’t imagine Universal will want to wait long to get production rolling. More on this as the news comes to us. |
