Seth Rogen Explains How Michel Gondry Got The Green Hornet Job![]()
Everyone's thought all along that it's pretty f--ing crazy that Seth Rogen has been handed over the Green Hornet legacy-- and Rogen has seemed to pretty much agree. But the addition of visionary director Michel Gondry to the team adds a whole new level of weird that even Rogen can't quite believe.
"It's f---ing crazy!" Rogen told MTV.com after Gondry signed on to the film. Apparently Rogen had been pushing for Gondry's participation for a while now, sending him a copy of the script and fighting for him at the studio. But Gondry, in his typical handcrafted style, made his own statement to get himself considered. "To convince the studio to let him do it, he filmed a fight scene on his own. He just hired stunt men and did it by himself! Just to show some of the stuff he could do, some of the weird filming techniques he has and some of the stuff he can pull off." And even if the spirit of Be Kind Rewind was what got Gondry the job, Rogen promises Green Hornet won't look anything like that film. "My direct quote to [Gondry] right before he met with the studio was, 'You have to convince them they're not gonna show up on set one day and everything is gonna be made out of cardboard. And he said, 'I can definitely do that.' " It's pretty much too exciting for words that Gondry is making a superhero movie, and the mixture of his visual style and Rogen and Evan Goldberg's humor is a lot to contemplate. But given that Rogen is just as excited about it as I am, I've got nothing but good feelings about it. |
