Some actors take their work one day at a time, choosing their projects carefully and precisely, making sure that every piece of art they present to the world is of the highest quality. Daniel Day Lewis comes to mind. Chris Tucker as well, but that’s a different story. Then there are the more common work-hungry actors that fill their plates with as many projects as possible, then pick and choose, leaving all the rest as scraps for the meek. Seth Rogen is one of those actors.
So far, Rogen has yet to make a bad acting choice, but when you have as many options as he does, it’s hard not to get a few odd ideas put in front of you. And according to HitFix, one of those peculiar pitches involves Rogen joining Barbara Streisand in a road comedy called Mother’s Curse. While few details are given, one must assume that Streisand would play Rogen’s mom as they go on some type of road trip. And maybe Rogen is the curse?
If played right (i.e. if the movie goes the R direction and Streisand is willing to cuss up a storm), this may just be crazy enough to be genius. If not, though, this could turn out to be a terrible Disney-like family comedy (think: RV). The project is still only in the scripting process, so it’s still far too early to tell which direction it will go in, and as Seth Rogen said himself, the movie is “one of the many projects I may or may not do in the next fifteen years.” So high on his priority list this is not.
