With moviegoers-- OK, OK, with female moviegoers still packing theaters to see the Sex and the City movie, Warner Bros. is refusing to let the idea of a sequel die out. And this is despite the fact that, when they first started talking sequel, virtually everyone who reported on the news did the online equivalent of falling to their knees and screaming "Noooooooo!" into the void.
Yeah. This is bad news. The New York Post got HBO programming exec Michael Lombardo to admit that the gears are still turning on this horrible idea. ""There is enormous interest by Warner Bros/New Line to put together another Sex and The City'movie, and I think, in fact, they are trying to put that together now. I think everybody associated with that project was really heartened by the enthusiasm from the fans and by the new fans of the show. So absolutely there is a lot of energy and thinking about another Sex and The City movie."
Now, that language is incredibly vague, and basically all it means is "We're too shellshocked by all the money we've made to form any coherent thoughts yet." But the fact that no one involved has taken a deep breath and said "Guys, lets give it up" is depressing. Maybe the fact that the new movie was so obsessed with money was a hint that things have changed in Sex and the City land? Those of you who never watched the show wouldn't understand, but I swear, it used to have a message greater than "looking for labels and looking for love." Now, though, it seems the bottom line has taken over, and with a half-hearted sequel on its way, it's the fans who are most likely to lose.

I will never go see the original or the sequel, but if ladies like the movies then you mine as well make another. Whatever it takes to get them out of the house for 2 hours is fine by me.
