It just got a little less cool to be a Lord of the Rings fan. Not that it ever was cool. I mean owning my very own replica of Sting has never done much for my social status. Not even when I run through the mall brandishing it over my head. Still, having a documentary made about Lord of the Rings fans probably isn’t going to do much to make us look kick ass. These things never do. Look what it did for Trekkies. Hey that’s me too. Damn.

Well a documentary about Lord of the Rings fans is what’s happening whether we fans like it or not. It’s called Ringers: Lord of the Fans and will feature among many other things, an exclusive interview with Peter Jackson. He no doubt will dress up for the occasion by wearing a dirty pair of shorts. Also on tap will be interviews with the cast, noted modern fantasy authors who ripped of Tolkien to line their own pockets, and for some reason film critic Elvis Mitchell… who’s opinion is noteworthy only because his first name is Elvis. Name your kid Elvis folks and people will automatically take him seriously. Name your kid Lenin and he’ll probably become a communist.

As a Lord of the Rings fan I can only think of one thing more humiliating than having a bunch of documentarians sit around and point out what big dorks LOTR fans are. Fortunately Triumph is busy these days, though at least if he went on the attack it’d be pretty funny. Hide your Aragorn action figures and put on the mantle of shame. It was made by elves and can disguise you as a rock.
