Last August Alexandre Aja did his very best to terrify you with fish in Piranha 3D. Amping up the gore to 11, the film was basically 88 minutes of mutant fish slaughtering teens on spring break. The sequel to that film, Piranha 3DD, is due out in November, but those needing their fix of aquatic-based horror can look to David Ellis' Shark Night 3D.

The trailer premiering over on Apple, the film stars Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack, Joel David Moore, Katharine McPhee and more as young adults vacationing at a lake house in Louisiana when they suddenly discover that the water is infested with man-eating sharks.

I feel like I'd be a lot more excited for this if David Ellis wasn't the director and I'm amazed that they are actually advertising that fact. I don't know a single person who actually enjoyed The Final Destination and it only made $66 million at the box office. Outside of that, the only thing that disappoints me about this trailer is that it seems to take itself extremely seriously. Piranha was a fun movie because while brutally violent it also had its funnier moments.

Shark Night 3D is out on September 14 and for more info be sure to check out our Blend Film Database.
