Sherlock Holmes 2 Sleuthing Its Way Into 3D![]()
Well, since Martin Scorsese has taken the step towards 3D for Hugo Cabret, it makes sense that lesser film makers will follow suit and add an unnecessary third dimension to their films. The most recent offenders are Sherlock Holmes 2 writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney, who recently sat down with the LA Times to discuss the over played gimmick.
The pair aren't keen on the idea of seeing every Hollywood film turn into a unabashed grab at moviegoer's wallets, but they're convinced it'll work well with Downey and Law as they sleuth their way through old timey England. Of course, they don't give any reason why it would work well in 3D, probably because they haven't bothered coming up with one yet. There's no valid reason to put director Guy Ritchie's follow up through the time consuming and expensive process of shooting for or converting to 3D. The Mulroney's don't offer up any glimpse into what the hotly anticipated sequel has in store, but with fans screaming "MORIARTY", it's likely his role will unfold a bit more. It hasn't been 100% confirmed that Sherlock 2 will be 3Dified, but since the screenwriters are on board, the producers are likely to latch on to the idea and squeeze every penny they can out of this while the going is good. We'll know soon if Ritchie warms to the idea, or if he'll mercifully shy away and opt to keep 2D alive. |
