Given the fact that she’s not even in the latest installment, original Transformers star Megan Fox has received a surprising amount of press in the days and weeks leading up to the release of Dark of the Moon.

First, there was the rumor that Steven Spileberg had her fired for Hitler comments Fox made regarding Michael Bay’s directorial style. Then Transformers co-star Shia LaBeouf, classy guy that he is, revealed to the media that he and Fox hooked up while filming Bay’s robot blockbusters, feeling that it added something to their (nonexistent) chemistry.

And now LaBeouf tells MTV News that when it came down to casting Fox’s replacement, he was hoping Bay would have gone in the opposite direction and hired someone “more bookish” for the role of his Transformers love interest. Shia, have you ever seen a Michael Bay movie? The director’s blockbusters have been called a number of things over the years, and the term “bookish” never entered the conversation. Something tells me Bay’s idea of “bookish” is a busty supermodel sporting fake, horn-rimmed glasses and dressed like a slutty librarian.

At least LaBeouf was quick to confirm what we all suspected: Bay would never let a “bookish” character into one of his films. “This is a summer movie, we need a summer girl,” the director reportedly told his star before settling on Victoria’s Secret underwear model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. And all was right in Bay’s world. But the “bookish” idea isn’t dead. It’s sitting on a shelf, waiting to get dusted off when Transformers no doubt is remade by a greedy Hollywood studio some time in the not-so-distant future.
