Shia LeBeouf And Scarlett Johansson Have The Wettest County![]()
Young actors rule Hollywood right now, which used to be a place for old-timers and people who had proven themselves as talented money-makers. You know, guys like Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt. These days, the kids bringing the talent are exactly that: kids. Whether it’s Shia LeBeouf in the year’s biggest movie or Ryan Gosling being called the next Brando or Joseph Gordon-Levitt out-acting every 30, 40, and 50 year old in the business, these guys know what they’re doing.
Now a bunch of these dudes look like they may even have the power to resurrect a dead project. They can do anything! THR says that The Wettest County in the World, a film about depression-era bootleggers that was put in turnaround last year (movie purgatory), may have gotten a figurative shot in the arm. The movie was originally set up as a big studio film but is now being “reconfigured” as an indie flick. And who’s being called on to help out with this revival? Shia LeBeouf, Ryan Gosling, Scarlett Johansson, and Paul Dano have all been mentioned as possibilities but have yet to sign on. How’s that for an all-star cast? If this had been 10 years, you could’ve made a Mickey Mouse Club movie with the same names. The movie takes place in the depression-era American south and follows three brothers who were the center of a dangerous criminal ring. The movie also follows an author who covers and researches bootlegging and the moonshine trade. While no concrete details have come out about the film, it seems very likely that it may get out of development hell. |
