This is getting re-god-damn-diculous. It has been a whole nine days since the news broke that Rachel McAdams was a possibility to play Felicia Hardy/Black Cat in the next Spider-Man film. Since then, Romola Garai and Julia Stiles have both been rumored to be in the running and a possible character arc was revealed. The first two have since spoken about it (McAdams denying the rumor and Garai simply laughing about it), but now we have a new name to throw on to the pile: Anne Hathaway.
According to Nikki Finke, who fully admits to knowing nothing about the series, sources are now saying that producers have approached Hathaway for a role in Spider-Man 4.Unlike previous rumors, the name Black Cat was not floated specifically, but it is hard to imagine that the timing is coincidental.
These rumors are going to stop at some point, right? After all, there is a finite number of actresses in Hollywood and I highly doubt I am going to find myself writing up "Betty White For Black Cat" in the near future (although she wouldn't have to dye her hair. Hmmm...) Perhaps my next article should be titled "All Actresses Under Thirty Up For Spidey Role" and practice due diligence by looking up every actress that meets the standard and making a spreadsheet. That way, they can't say that we missed it. I'm a genius.
