Shocking News: Internet Used To Find Movie Info image
To think, most of our parents were concerned about their children watching too much television. Now, it’s all about the Internet and more specifically, networking websites. According to Variety, a study done by Nielsen NRG reveals that MySpace is the top site choice for a 15- to 24-year olds looking for movie information.

The trial focused on 13 summer films released over the past two years including The Dark Knight, Get Smart, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Step Up 2: The Streets, 300, John Tucker Must Die, and The Omen. When the numbers were tallied, MySpace took top billing, with 29% saying they use the News Corp.-owned site when initially hunting down movie buzz. Both Yahoo and Google tied for second with 23% followed by AOL with 14%. When it came down to stumbling upon movie information or advertisements, 46% said they saw the material on MySpace, 26% on Yahoo, 18% on Fandango and 12% on AOL’s Moviefone. This is some red-hot information. Advertisers better take some hints.

To add to the proof of the Internet takeover, the survey also found that the Internet was used as the main source of information for The Dark Knight, not television. Hmm, maybe some upcoming films should have such an extensive online ad campaign. Who even needed this Nielsen study to figure that one out? You can find just about everything and anything on the Internet; and all at the click of the mouse. No commercials, no waiting; information when you want it. Now it’s just a matter of where you prefer to get that information. Perhaps some companies should look into MySpace’s methods.
