Shyamalan Has Plans For Airbender 2, Will Make It Darker![]()
With his performance record, if M. Night Shyamalan were in any other profession he would have been shit-canned years ago. His latest failure, The Last Airbender, is being called the worst film of the year, Roger Ebert saying that it's "an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented." But if there's one thing an ego is good for, it's inflating self-worth and Shyamalan has one hell of an ego.
Speaking with MTV, Shyamalan is now saying that he already has scripts for sequels in the works, despite the fact that they have not been green-lit. When asked about the tone of the next film, the writer/director said that he wants to make it "darker and richer," better utilizing Azula, the film's antagonist. I've posted the video of the interview below simply because I'm not sure I've ever seen a more perfect example of delusion. Between the films budget and marketing, more than $280 million was spent on this production, and, while the film made $53.3 million this past weekend, word of mouth is likely to kill it in the second week. Paramount would be fools to let this man handle a second installment. Let someone with actual talent get a shot. |
