M. Night Shyamalan has left his home at Disney, who produced his last four movies, and has signed an agreement with Warner Brothers to distribute his next picture. Of course, this being M. Night Shyamalan, it could all be a strange plot that will no doubt end in alien invasion or ghosts signing contracts or something.

Shyamalan released The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village with Disney, as well as a really lame television documentary, The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan which attempted to set Night up as something supernatural in nature. Maybe that’s why he’s changing studios - they got too close to who he really is. Or maybe he just got sick of promotional crap like that documentary. Regardless, according to Variety, Disney reps claim their relationship remains good with Night, and that they look forward to working with him in the future. An added comment of “this is all part of the dark lord’s plan” was omitted from their report. Then again, that might actually never have been said. Disney has a dark lord of their own who's busy ruining the studio's connection with big fish like Pixar, Miramax, and Shyamalan. It's unlikely Night held much sway in Disney's unnatural affairs. Warner Brothers, on the other hand, is ripe for the picking for an up and coming supernaturally connected director.

Night’s next picture is Lady in the Water which tells the story of a building super who finds a sea nymph in his apartment building’s pool. I’m really hoping they avoid the line, “I see sea people”.
