Sienna Guillory Confirmed To Return For Resident Evil: Retribution image
It always surprised me that the Resident Evil franchise began with Alice, played by Milla Jovovich, as the female protagonist instead Jill Valentine, the female hero that opened the videogame series all the way back in 1996. It didn't take them long to rectify the mistake, however, as Valentine was introduced into the movie canon in Resident Evil: Apocalypse, played by Sienna Guillory. Then, once again, she disappeared for Resident Evil: Extinction and was then brought back for Resident Evil: Afterlife. With such a flighty record, the character's presence in the next film, Resident Evil: Retribution, has been up in the air, but today we have an answer.

STYD reports that Guillory will in fact be back playing Jill Valentine in the next film. Talk began when the actress Tweeted "Big day tomorrow! Meeting Paul Anderson and Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kultzer to see what my future looks like..." A few hours later she then sent out another message reading, "THANK YOU SO MUCH! RETRIBUTION HERE I COME!" There were rumors swirling around that Guillory would be replaced in the new film, but that report was meant with sincere displeasure from franchise fans. The new movie will be set in Tokyo, Japan and Jovovich is also set to return.

I must admit that I am impressed by Resident Evil's continued success. Say what you will about the films' quality, they have a devoted fanbase - especially internationally - and I don't see them stopping until the world's supply of prop guns runs out.
