Quick, what was the plot of Ghostbusters II? While I can recall all the plot details of the original film clearly, I honestly can’t remember what happened in the sequel. I remember thinking that the movie itself wasn’t very good, but if you held a gun to my head I couldn’t tell you what happened. This, of course, means that I’m not particularly broken up that Sigourney Weaver, Dana Barrett in the first two movies, says there will not be a Ghostbusters III.
Weaver was interviewed for Premier Magazine by Ryan Stewart at Cinematical and she puts the kibosh on any further ghost hunting. When presented with a question about the possibility, she says, "Well, I just saw Ivan Reitman at this dinner, this lunch for his son, and, ummm, there's no way." That’s a pretty straightforward way to put it. Thank goodness for Weaver and Reitman having enough self-respect not to dredge up that relic.
One of the problems with a potential Ghostbusters III movie is that Dan Aykroyd will probably co-write it. His last four scripts were Blues Brothers 2000, Coneheads, Nothing But Trouble, and Ghostbusters II. Recognize anything you want to slip into your DVD player tonight? In fact, if you don’t count Grosse Point Blank in 1997, he hasn’t even acted in a comedy that was any good since the first Ghost Busters almost 24 years ago. If you think I’m kidding, check it out. So, despite the wishes of Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, let’s keep Be Kind Rewind’s Ghost Busters remake as the only ghost bustin’ this decade.

Heres a list of films, made in the last 25 years, that Aykroyd was in that I enjoyed:
Trading Places
Ghostbusters
Spies Like Us (Classic!)
Great Outdoors
Nothing But Trouble
My Girl
Tommy Boy
Loser (I liked it)
Evolution
50 First Dates ("was your head shaped like that before she hit you?")
I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry (I laughed)
Sorry dude, I have to say hes made some stinkers but he's still been in some damn good movies in the last 25 years.
