Nothing but good news has been coming from behind the scenes of Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, ever since earlier this year when he had to replace nearly his entire cast due to scheduling conflicts. I mean, possible skin from Vanessa Hudgens? Maybe you can argue with that, but I can’t.
Added to that good news is the announcement that Snyder has signed on an apparent favorite actress of his. According to THR, Carla Gugino (also known as Silk Spectre from Watchmen), has joined the cast of the femme-power action flick. Written by Zach, Sucker Punch will follow a girl whose father institutionalizes her and plans to have her lobotomized. There are alternate realities. Girls kicking ass. It just seems like an all around good time. Gugino will play an adult at the institution.
It’ll be interesting to see Snyder’s take on women, as his movies thus far have been mostly masculine in nature (I can count the boobs in 300 on one hand). Women do not get nearly enough action films, and considering Ana from Dawn of the Dead was pretty kick-ass, I have confidence that Snyder can pull this off. Don’t fail me, bro.
