Simon Pegg And Jeremy Renner Talk Strategy In New Mission: Impossible Clip
For obvious reasons Tom Cruise has been the real focus of all the advertising for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, but he's not the only returning cast member. While we've yet to see Ving Rhames in any of the advertisements (he has confirmed that he will be in the movie), Simon Pegg, who is doing his second go-round as computer expert Benji Dunn, is a major part of the film's main group of heroes. Part of Ethan Hunt's team that is forced to go rogue and sniff out and take down the people responsible for the bombing of the Kremlin, Pegg's role in the new movie is given a major upgrade from Mission: Impossible 3. How major? He's featured in the first clip from the movie while Cruise is nowhere to be seen.

That is, of course, Jeremy Renner that Pegg is talking with, who plays a fellow disavowed IMF agent named Brandt. What's interesting is that this scene and the portrayal of Brandt dovetails nicely with what I saw from the character in the 20+ minute preview that I saw a couple weeks ago. While the other members of the team, including Paula Patton's Jane Carter, are fairly confident doing insane stunts, Brandt proves himself to be a bit of a worrywart, which works perfectly against the comedic styling of Pegg.
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is directed by Brad Bird and also stars Josh Holloway, Tom Wilkinson, Lea Seydoux, Michael Nygvist and Anil Kapoor. The movie will hit IMAX theaters on December 16th while releasing nationwide on December 21st. To learn about and see more from the film, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database.
