Simon Pegg Wants To Join Harry Potter![]()
Just about every British actor who can read probably wants a chance to be in one of the Harry Potter movies. I mean, for anyone with kids it’s a chance to be immortalized in a much more family-friendly way (part of the reason original Dumbledore Richard Harris signed on). Few of them are as vocal about it as Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg, however, who recently voiced to MTV Movies Blog that he was still waiting for a role in the franchise.
Of course, the bad news for Pegg is that almost all the big roles have been taken. Last week Jim Broadbent was announced as Horace Slugg, a role many had hoped would go to Bob Hoskins. That role wouldn’t have even been right for Pegg, so one has to wonder if Simon will get his shot at Hogwarts or not. I haven’t done my stint yet. I feel like I’ve been left out of a massive club. It’s like every actor in Britain worth their salt has played a wizard or a muggle.” says Pegg. Would it be enough for Pegg to simply appear in the movie somewhere? I mean, franchise creator J.K. Rowling has only had a couple of seconds on screen, so would that be enough for the actor to consider himself part of the Harry Potter club? It might have to be, since there’s less and less chance for the actor to be a big part. Given his chance, Pegg would love to play Lupin, but I don’t think anybody wants to see David Thewlis give up the role. Meanwhile, MTV has a great suggestion for who the actor could possibly play that I’m not going to repeat here due to its incredibly spoilerish nature (hint: it has to do with the much debated epilogue), but can you think of a character that would be appropriate for Simon Pegg? |
